How long does it take to set up a new account?

Shared accounts will be set up within 4 hours. Dedicated servers ordered with standard configurations will be setup within 2-4 hours.

We begin processing your account the same business day it is received, or the next business day if it is after hours, and as soon as payment is received or credit card is approved.

Once your account is activated, you will receive an email with your account information.


How do I transfer files to my Web site?

You will be given access to your Website via File Transfer Protocol (FTP) or Microsoft FrontPage. If you choose FrontPage access, then you will be able to design your site and upload its contents to your account using this software. If you choose FTP access, you will need to upload your files using a FTP program such as:

What is the difference between Managed and Unmanaged dedicated hosting service?

Our Managed Dedicated Hosting is designed for our customers who prefer to have Webhost.net maintain and monitor their dedicated servers, operating system and all supported applications. Webhost.net will manage the daily administration, monitoring and updating a server requires. We will apply patches when necessary. This service is for companies who do not have the required system administration resources on-staff.

Our unmanaged Dedicated Hosting service is for our customers who have extensive system administration expertise to maintain and manage their dedicated servers. This option provides customers with full access to their server allowing them to customize configurations. Technical Support is included. Updates, system configuration, and content monitoring are available as options to unmanaged packages.

What database support can I get?

We fully support Microsoft Access , and MYSQL databases on Windows accounts, and PostgreSQL and MYSQL databases on Unix accounts. MSSQL and Oracle support is available at an additional cost.

Do I need to use a DSN in order to use my Access database?

No, you may use a DSN-less connection in your ASP scripts to interact with your Access database. For further information on setting up these functions, check the following links:

How many IP addresses do I get?

With our dedicated servers, we can supply you with the IP addresses you need. All we ask is that you justify them. Virtual host may share IP addresses. We will supply IPs for SSL and applications at no additional cost.

Can I make a custom 404 error page?

If your site is hosted on a UNIX platform, you may customize an error 404 html page, upload it to your Website root directory (www.yourdomain.com) and name it, "missing.html". The server will automatically display the file, "missing.html", whenever a 404 error is generated anywhere in your Website directory and existing sub-folders. This service is offered free of charge as it is a default configuration in the Apache web server.
